There Are Two Major Technologies for Repairing Cracks in Hard Alloy Molds

Pre-treatment Crack Repair Technology:

This type of technology involves special treatment inside the material before the crack occurs during the manufacturing process of hard alloy molds or materials. When cracks appear inside the material during use, the pre-installed repair microstructure automatically repairs the cracks and eliminates them. Depending on whether the pre-treatment changes the material's composition itself, this technology can be divided into two categories:

a. Non-altering composition and structure:
This approach does not change the material's composition and structure. Instead, it involves pre-inserting repair microstructures inside the material during the manufacturing process. When cracks occur during use, the microstructures act as repair agents to mend the cracks.

b. Adjusting material composition or structure:
This approach involves modifying the composition of the hard alloy mold material by adding specific elements beforehand. When cracks occur, these special elements transfer to the crack site to repair the cracks.

Post-Crack Repair Methods for Hard Alloy Molds:

There are two main approaches for post-crack repair:

a. Manual repair:
In this method, external energy supply is used for repair. Internal cracks require external factors to initiate the repair process, such as heating, pressurization, deformation, etc. Specific techniques include pulse current repair, drilling and filling repair, high-temperature pressurized repair, variable temperature repair, etc.

b. Self-repair:
This method relies on the inherent capabilities of the material to self-repair. It mainly involves the concept of mimicking biological repair mechanisms.
